The Source Youth Ministry

Wednesdays, 7pm at Amana

All youth ages 12-18 years are welcome to join us
on Wednesdays at 7pm at Amana for a time of fun,
worship and spiritual growth!

Maybe your wondering why this group is called the Source. The source of what? Is the group a source of something, or are they looking for a source? What in the world’s going on? Well, let me shine some light.

The Source is the youth ministry at Amana Christian Fellowship. This ministry is for teens and students 12 years – 18 years old who are determined to be more than a social club. We want to be involved in more than just having meetings.   You know, the meetings where one guy talks, and everybody else sits around and stares until he’s done, then they all go home as if nothing ever happened? Yea, you’ve been to one of those. We believe Christ has called us to something more. That He saved us to do more than just have meetings. He blessed us to be a blessing! God is our source. He’s the source of a lot of things. He’s the source of hope (Psalm 119:114), the source of joy (Psalm 43:4), the source of comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3), the source of our righteousness (Isaiah 45:24), the source of our spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4), and the source of our salvation (Hebrews 5:9).

One of the best analogies of God as The Source, is to consider yourself as a branch. As long as a branch is connected to the trunk of the tree, planted by its roots (or its source) it gets the nutrients it needs to produce fruit, and to stay alive; but the moment the branch is removed from the rest of the tree, it loses its “source” of life, and will eventually be good only as a nice addition to your scorching fireplace.

Jesus says in John 15:5 ” I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

Our youth group put on fundraisers every month for a year in order to raise $10,000 to help build the first ever primary school in all of Maasai land, in Tanzania, East Africa! These teenagers at Amana washed cars, baked cakes, trimmed trees, mowed lawns, cooked burgers, served tables, all in order to help those less fortunate than themselves.
The Source is a small group of teens, but they have made a huge impact around the world. Let it be an encouragement to all of us who think we are too small to make a difference.
